本片讲述了两名敌对的职业杀手Tok（刘德华饰）和O（反町隆史饰）为着至爱而战，为着名誉而生。这两个亚洲最强的全职杀手经过连场激战即将在死亡线上遇见，而可以活着的，只有一人。O长年生活在一个只有杀戮和孤独的世界，在他的至爱Nancy死后将自己完全封闭起来。O居住在街道中一个安全隐蔽的住所里，正在这时天真无邪的Chin（林熙蕾饰）闯进了他的情感世界，他的生活从此改变。Chin被雇佣打扫这间房子，却从未见过那个神秘的雇主。事实上，她甚至不知道自己与这栋房子以前的女主人十分相似。Chin开始探寻更多有关这位雇主的秘密，正在这时，Tok出现了。耀眼而冲动的Tok喜欢杀人的刺激并立志成为头号职业杀手。他对Chin的想法和她对雇主的忠诚表示怀疑。Chin却对Tok想要揭穿她的雇主真正身份的意图一无所知。
此时，一位经验丰富的国际刑警Lee（任达华饰）已经对O进行了5年以上的追踪。正是Lee揭露了奥运会神枪Lok Gan Wah和他年轻的弟弟Lok Tai Wah患上大脑疾病而在比赛失利的事件。这两位神枪手在失去金牌后神秘地消失了。被Tok激怒和被Lee的追捕使O向他的头C7求助。可O却不知道他的头事实上就是Lok Gan Wah—Tok的哥哥。Tok坚持要与O生死决斗迫使C7把O从刑警Lee的追捕中解救出来。两名杀手一起消失了，究竟谁才能在决斗中幸存？……
